As Iraq pullback nears, US still at war in south (AP)

In this Monday, Aug. 29, 2011 photo, U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Trevor Hall, 28, walks through the village of Bani Hashem, Iraq after a group of American troops handed out water and toys. The soldiers, based out of COS Garry Owen in Maysan province, are part of efforts by the U.S. military to battle Shiite insurgents who have attacked American forces.(AP Photo/Rebecca Santana)AP - Soldiers at this base sleep with their shoes on so they don't cut their feet running under rocket fire. Elsewhere in Iraq the tanks are being packed up, but here they still serve in the hunt for insurgents. And when U.S. troops hand out soccer balls to village children, Apache helicopters circle above.
